When God speaks, what category of speakers do you think He belongs to? Is He inspiring, motivating, informing or transforming us?
In His presence, we should expect what I call a “prophetic voice.” That is how God speaks. His voice is the combination of the past, present, and future. It contains information, inspiration, motivation, and transformation. His voice releases life, light, power, and wisdom. When He speaks there is no idleness in His word; and none of His words ever return to Him void. This means once that word proceeds from His mouth, it will accomplish and prosper in whatever He sends it without any hindrance (Isaiah 55).
I watched a video where the speaker shared that there are four categories of speakers – informational, inspirational, motivational and transformational.
An informational speaker’s job is to pass the message across to the audience, and then the audience can do whatever they want with it. Inspirational speaker answer to their name by ensuring the audience are inspired by their message. A motivational speaker energizes and stirs up the emotion of the audience to move them to action. If the audience acts on that motivation, they can experience some level of change in their lives. But how long will this change last? No one knows for sure; especially since the speaker will not always be available to motivate the people when they might need it. Transformational speaking is however about changing the life and pattern of the audience, and coaching individuals until they experience a definite level of change.
When God speaks, His word has no flaw or ambiguity. It contains the same power and force that created the heavens and the earth as is said in Genesis. God still speaks with the same authority, unction, and intent. What makes the difference is our interpretation of what we are hearing and what actions we take regarding what we have received from Him.
If we receive His word as mere information, what we get is what we expect; no more no less. If we receive His word as daily inspiration to get by in life, then that is what we would get from it. What we expect is what we get. Also, if we think God is speaking to motivate us, we would not get anything beyond motivation. Those who receive His word as the power to transform their lives are those who get the transformational value from it.
The consciousness of the environment where we receive God’s word is also relatively important to how we interpret the message. People attending seminars have certain expectations from the speaker(s). They are fully aware of what they should expect from the speaker since they already know who the speaker is. So if we come to the presence of the Almighty God and intend to hear His voice what should our expectations be?
It is also important to know that in God’s presence is where we fully encounter His voice which transforms our lives. His word is spirit and life. It has not changed from the beginning of time when He said, “let there be light“, and there was light. If He is speaking to you and nothing is changing, it is because you have selectively categorized His word to mean something different from what He intended. You will not profit from His word until you rightly appropriate it as meaning exactly what He is saying.
What type of speaker do you listen to and how are their words impacting your life? No matter who they are it is time to get in the presence of God and hear for yourself. You can make it a habit to spend time alone with God in a quiet place. There is no need for formality; just talk to God as a child will speak to his/her parent without fear. Open your heart and tell Him everything on your mind. Remember that He is already aware of what you want to talk about, so you don’t need to hide anything from Him. Relax and speak freely to Him and believe that He hears.
The truth is if your mind is set on God, the struggles of your mind will seize. Whatever you focus on becomes your perception of the reality. The more attention you pay to your issues, the bigger they get in your eyes or mind. But when you set your mind on God and the things from above, you will walk away from all uncertainty. Understand this truth – if your mind is set on God you will have peace and your struggles will seize. Setting your mind on God means deliberately focusing on Him and seeking His presence. Difficulties and challenges weigh us down because we let them occupy our minds. And until we get God’s perspective regarding our issues, the weights will remain.
Where you are today is as a result of your choices; and to change or move forward from where you are you need to make a decision. All you need is to “Get His Approval” and ensure you are following His “Main Plan.” We all have decisions to make. Seek Him and when you find Him you will know. Stand in His presence and speak to Him about your situation and listen to what He has to say.
There really is no point complaining about God not helping. How much help can God give you when you are out of His coverage? When you are far away from His preservation plan, how will He help you? Until you reorganize your thought process and set your mind on Him, nothing will change. Why? Because the responsibility is in your hands to initiate a change. It starts with you.
When God spoke, light came and replaced darkness. When He speaks to you nothing about your life will remain the same. When God speaks to you expect to be immovable & unstoppable. Expect to be transformed. Your life becomes and stays rooted in His ability to transform you as you stay in His presence. So wait on Him until He speaks and be sure to hear Him clearly. Don’t assume. He is the prophetic speaker and He is in the business of transforming lives; including yours. So listen for His voice and set the right expectations!
