The Confirmation (Part 2): The Gift of Prophesy.

In the last post I highlighted one of the occasions that Jesus Christ confirmed His ministry in Luke 4. I will share the prophesy God gave me as a confirmation for ministerial call.

On the 20th of November 2015, the Lord gave me a prophesy that I didn’t fully understand. Prophesy is one of the spiritual gifts God gave me and trained me in. Paul said in First Corinthians 12:1&7, “Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant…But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all.”

There are nine of these spiritual gifts; and three of those are vocal. The gift of prophesy falls into that category (1 Corinthians 12:8-11).

Also, please note that having the gift of prophesy does not qualify one as a prophet. Prophets are called into that office; and the gift of prophesy is one of their spiritual gifts. Act 21:7-11 mentioned Philip’s four daughters who prophesied; but they were not prophetesses. And then the same chapter mentioned Agabus who was a prophet.

Paul admonished us to seek spiritual gifts, and especially that we may prophesy to edify, exhort, and comfort others and the church (1 Corinthians 14). Also note that those called into the office of the prophet will manifest the gifts of revelation in their prophesy, like Agabus did.

The first part of the prophesy the Lord gave me was:

I will use you in a very special way; also strange to you and to the people around you. I will strengthen your hands and the hands of everyone that will strengthen your hands as well. I will use you in a unique way not known beforeI will open doors that are strange to you and to people around you. My hand is upon you and upon your family and all that will move with you. This is the confirmation that I am sending you. I am sending you on my own terms and not yours. Not your abilities or qualifications but mine. …”

When the Lord gave me this prophesy I had limited understanding of the content. I felt it was a prophetic gift of exhortation, comfort and edification. It wasn’t until later, when I was separated into the ministry, that I began to see that the prophesy contained some revelations that confirmed God’s path and the ministry He has for me. And it is something others will learn from.

The truth is that there are people that God has prepared to use in a special way. He will empower them with abilities to do unique and unusual things that fit into His agenda. They will also have a support system and they will not be alone. All of their supporters will help to foster the agenda of God and will in turn receive honor for their commitment. He will open uncommon doors and use people in a ways that haven’t been known before now.

I certainly believe we cannot fully understand the whole counsel of God. There are surprise elements in the program of God for our lives. God emphasized that He qualifies and give the abilities for His call; it is not by any personal achievement. Therefore, everything will be according to His Terms.

We cannot run our race or create our agenda outside of God’s. He must be the lead and the one who orders our every step. Proverbs 16:1 says, “The preparations of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord.”  Until God takes absolute control of all our labor, we will be in total frustration without any hope of reward. The ways of God are not always predictable. If they were, there will be nothing to look forward to. But thankfully we know God will always step in to show us that He is in charge, if we are yielded to Him.
