The Confirmation (Part 1): Jesus’s Ministry Confirmed.

I want to share some of the things God has revealed to me in the area of ministerial assignment. Some of the information are personal; but since it was God’s confirmation for me, I believe others can also learn from it. The intent is to encourage you, and most importantly that the Holy Spirit will use it to confirm what God has placed in your heart for your generation.

At the beginning of Christ’s ministry, He went through several challenges regarding gaining trust from the people. One thing He did not fail to do is to teach the multitude about His mission, and what God has called and sent Him to accomplish for mankind. On one occasion while going about doing His ministerial work, He went to the synagogue as part of His normal routine, and He stood up to read. The bible recorded in Luke 4 that He was handed the book of the Prophet Isaiah. When he opened it, He found the place that had a confirmation about His ministry, and He read from that portion to the congregation. In that moment He reiterated what was written about Him as a confirmation that He was right on track.

Luke 4:18-19 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”

Jesus then told them that the scripture is fulfilled in their hearing and that they bear witness to Him. With authority, He declared Himself as the subject in the scripture, thereby validating His ministry. He knew without any doubt that His calling was confirmed.

There will always be people who will be offended when you confidently declare your calling. It happened to Jesus too. People will quickly take you down memory lane to remind you of your background and why they think you are not qualified. But you need to know who you are and what God has called you to accomplish. Everybody will not accept your testimony. Even if you stand in front of them with the wings of an angel, some will still ignore the grace and potential you carry. It is of great importance that you know for yourself Who has called you and what He has called you to do.

Just as it important to confirm your calling, it is also crucial to know how God speaks and in what ways He is leading you. Without this understanding you will find yourself confused and at crossroads. As you continue in the journey set before you, there will be several opportunities and encounters that God will provide to give you adequate confirmation that you are on the right path. For some people it will be by revelations, visions, or dreams; while others may have the inner witness of the Holy Spirit.

According to Romans 8:16 “The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God”. Whatever the source of confirmation and your calling, ensure it is in line with the purpose and agenda of God for you. It has to be in sync with the Word of God. Your calling should be God-confirmed and not man-confirmed; just as Jesus’ was. The Word of God must validate your purpose; especially if God is sending you.

In the next part I will begin to share the prophesy God gave me as my confirmation. My prayer is that everyone that has the call of God on their lives, or whatever is your gift, will see the light of the day and Jesus Christ is glorified.
