I stumbled on a traditional African gospel song last week that always inspires me to pray. I was listening to the story of the songwriter/musician, and he explained how he had been into music for over 16 years with no success. But one day while attending a large prayer gathering, he met a man who knew about his music career. The man was actually one of the coordinators of the event. This man asked the musician if he was still making music, and his response was, “I am singing, but people are not dancing.” In other words, his music career had not been successful. So, the event coordinator promised to secure a three minutes slot for this musician to perform at that large gathering. He had never been given an opportunity like that before, and he recalled how that would be the defining moment of his life and career.
Before the musician was called to perform, he prayed for inspiration. He asked for the title of the event and quickly composed a song with the event’s title, which was “Lord Reveal Me to Those I’m Yet to Meet.” When it was time for him to perform, the three minutes allotted became 18 minutes because the people were captivated by his song and wanted more. Even the chief organizer would not let anyone stop him. After his performance, the chief organizer asked if that song had been recorded, and his answer was no. The organizer asked how much it will cost to record the song and wrote a check for the amount on the spot. He said he wanted the song to be released in two weeks.
The recording process was successful; followed by the distribution of the song locally. After that, someone traveling overseas bought a few copies, took it to the U.S., and sent some to his friends. One of those friends liked it so much he contacted the songwriter to ask if he was willing to visit the U.S to perform. Two months after that call, this musician found himself performing in New York. The prophecy of his song had caught up with him – God had revealed him to those he had never met, just like the song said. From a musician struggling locally for over 16 years, he went on to become an international sensation overnight. Thanks to God.
