An interviewer once asked Bill Gates if he had any idea he will be as successful as he is today. He answered by saying that at the beginning of Microsoft he was a little bit afraid that he might not have enough money to pay the people working for him. I found that to be interesting. Like many of us, he did not see what was in store for him. He never knew that one day he will be one of the richest people on earth. According to him, it was a concern because he really didn’t know that the company will become as big as it is. Therefore, he was skeptical.

What are you skeptical about? What could be some of the things you can’t see coming regarding your life and future? If only you had an idea of how great your future is, you will fully embrace the path of your purpose and stay focused on your dream. Though your life is not a surprise to God who designed it; the full revelation of it will bring you to your knees. Tears will roll down your cheeks when you see the glory that awaits you. There is nothing more humbling than discovering that your life is exceedingly more beautiful than you have ever imagined. And this was all planned out by God before your existence.

No matter how strategic and positive we are, there are things about life we are still clueless of until they begin to emerge. We might be so diligent in setting goals and working hard to attain success; but we can never fully understand the future until it starts to unfold before our eyes. And what better way to illustrate this kind of life than through the lives of those who achieved great success but never saw it coming.   

Esther, from the bible, never imagined that a Jewish girl like herself will ever become queen in a foreign land. She also fought and became the protector of the Jewish people against the anti-Semitic Haman who wanted to destroy all the Jews. Esther ruled over one of the largest empires, which consisted of over 127 provinces from India to Ethiopia. That is more than the size of a continent in that geographical location presently. However, Esther never saw it coming until she ascended the throne.

Melania Trump was a former model who came to New York from Slovenia. She was born into the modest family of a car dealer. Her parents were neither American citizens nor politicians. She married Donald Trump in 2004 and had no idea that one day she will become the First Lady of the United States. Coming from Slovenia, Melania never knew she will one day become one of the most influential females in the world. Her life might be a surprise to her; but definitely not to God since He orchestrated it all.

Also worthy of mention is Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, who is an American and former actress. She is now a member of the British Royal family since marrying Prince Harry. If she had seen that coming maybe she would not have gotten married earlier on to her first husband. But in spite of that, her life unraveled before her eyes and she discovered something beyond her wildest imagination.

All of this is to let you know that your background is not necessarily a pointer to where you are heading to in life. Where you are going and what you will become is a mystery until it is revealed. But what is interesting about the revelation of that mystery is the amazement that comes from finding out the greatness in who you are.

In my life personally, I never knew that a day will come when the nature of my job will entail travelling across the globe with classified materials and special escorts, and having a special pass at international airports as a member of the United States Defense Courier. Nothing about my life or background could have made me foresee this. I also did not know that I will be in the United States Army for 12years; spending most of it overseas.

These are just some things we can quantify. How about the things that we can’t see coming and don’t have a clue will be part of the package that is our life?

While you wait until the full manifestation of your full potential, you can always be star struck by the magnitude of its greatness and the beauty in it. There are so many things about our future that we will never be able to imagine. What is important is seeking to know what they are and trust God for the unimaginable glory that is awaiting us.

It is a great life we have, and it is worth living and looking forward to. If we only knew what lies ahead, our perspective about who we are will be so much different. There is a star inside of you; and if you knew it you will thank God for your life every day. The truth remains that you are someone to be envied by generations; even though you may not see it coming.
