A Special Anointing
Every spiritual assignment calls for a spiritual endowment. Human intelligence cannot match divine qualifications. Whenever God sends someone, He equips him or her for the assignment. Every ministry carries some specific anointing to fulfill their mandate. This is important for those joining any spiritual organization to understand what grace is available and what the ministry is called to accomplish.
The anointing is the power of God to accomplish His works. Every anointing is specific to whatever the Holy Spirit wants to accomplish. And God’s people are anointed to do specific tasks.
Jesus was very specific about the anointing upon His life and what He was meant to do in His ministry. In Luke 4, He said, 18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who areoppressed; 19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”
It is within the context of what Jesus was anointed to do that He fulfilled His ministry. He could do so many other things; but if He did, He would have be out of the divine order. He was not anointed to sing, so He didn’t write hymns or songs. And He did not build houses or invent tetracycline; because the anointing was not designed for those things.
God’s anointing caters to the needs of our time. During Jesus’ earthly ministry, He dealt with issues in different ways; giving room for the expression of the anointing in His life. We cannot put the Holy Spirit in a box; we must know how the Spirit of Truth wants to express His anointing through us. Whatever way He decides to flow in His anointing reveals the intention of God. We will be free from error if we give the Holy Spirit His place in our lives.
In John 5, Jesus met a man who had an infirmity for thirty-eight years. This man was at the pool of Bethesda where multitudes of sick, blind, lame, paralyzed people were waiting for whenever an angel would come to stir up the water. Whoever stepped in first after the stirring of the water, became healed of their diseases.
Thirty-eight years is a long time to be in suffering, stagnation, hopelessness, poverty, and demonic oppression. And this is the reality of many people today. They are waiting and hoping to experience a change in their condition, but to no avail. Waiting for thirty-eight hours could be excruciating, how much more thirty-eight years.
Without the intervention of Jesus this man will have continued to wait; not knowing how much longer he would still have to wait. But Jesus showed up with the anointing and the power of the Holy Spirit to end thirty-eight years of waiting. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. He has not changed and neither has His power and anointing.
Help is always available through God’s provision. He still anoints ministries and people with special anointing for uncommon situations. We are beneficiaries of His special anointing to minister to people with an unusual situation according to His leadings.
This is regarding the healing of long-term situations/diseases, and terminal diseases – “As you have desired that anointing, grace, and unction to heal a longtime situation, diseases, terminal diseases, as the longing of your heart has reached Me, I have given you that grace, and the anointing and that authority. You will know that I will do it for you. As you will call upon Me, as you will seek Me on behalf of the situation, I will answer you. I will answer you because your heart has desired it. I am pleased to bless you with that grace and anointing – that grace that will beautify the work that I have called you to do as you begin to end the things that do not want to have an end in the lives of people in their situations and circumstances. So, you will come with that anointing that declares an end to what has been determined to be territorial and not have an end. That anointing is released in you, says the Lord.” November 2021
We totally trust and rely on the Holy Spirit in the execution of this special anointing. It is always in the heart of the Father to set the captives free. The suffering and pains of people does not glorify God. His love for His people is unfathomable. Our hearts’ cry is seeing the captives free. The Holy Spirit and His anointing is the guarantee.
Luke 13 recorded the story of a woman with eighteen years of infirmity. Satan had bound her and she was bent her over for eighteen years – until Jesus came to set her free. Eighteen years of the devil’s wickedness is not God’s plan for anyone. The day Jesus showed up is the day her case was settled. The provision for her healing was made possible through the anointing on Jesus.
The same thing happened in Mark 5, where we see the story of a woman with twelve years of blood flow. She was oppressed by the devil for twelve years and the situation lingered until she met Jesus.
25 Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years, 26 and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse. 27 When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. 28 For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.” 29 Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction. Mark 5:25-29
Without the ministry of Jesus and His anointing the devil would have continued to oppress these individuals. Their neighbors and acquaintances can only sympathize with them, but cannot deliver them from their situations. But Jesus changed their stories with the anointing of the Holy Spirit at work in His ministry.
Today there is still hope for the hopeless no matter how long they have been oppressed by the enemy. God’s plan for us revolves around His purpose and agenda for His Kingdom; which are good and never evil. The anointing of the Holy Spirit is available to deliver the oppressed; and the word of God is what sets this anointing in motion.
The anointing in the life and ministry of Jesus provided Him the opportunity to minister deliverance and healing to people. He carried enough power of the Holy Spirit to affect their destinies. There is always a specific anointing to get the job done. And God has already anointed ministries, according to His will, to do this job through the Holy Spirit’s guidance.
Whatever problems that have refused to leave the people, God’s word and the anointing is present to end those problems. We have received grace to exercise authority over the works of the devil in situations that are terminal in the lives of people, places, and nations.
