From the beginning of this year, I have dwelt on a message titled “God’s Creative Threshold.” What I learned from this inspired message is the fact that God is creative, and we can all attest to that by examining everything He created. Think about the sun, moon, galaxies, seas, heavens, and the earth that God single-handedly created. What’s more amazing about His creation is the potential inherent. Imagine the potentials of the sun, the earth, the seas, etc.

One profound understanding from this message is that creativity becomes a necessity whenever chaos is present. Everything created came about because there was a void that needed to be filled. “Chaos” was the circumstance surrounding the creation of the heavens and the earth according to the book of Genesis chapter 1.

The bible described it as darkness being all over the place and everything being without form or shape. That is chaos. It was the chaotic situation that God decided to bring shape and meaning to by creating light first and then every other thing we read about.

Every one of us has this creative ability; and this suggests to me that at some point in our lives that gift will be a saving grace. It will however require us to dig deep. because we will need it to give shape to whatever is out of shape in our lives.

There are two things to consider here. First is that we all have creative abilities. Second is that we will need this ability to get us out of any chaos we are facing in life. You might ask, “Why can’t I just pray about everything and God just makes things perfect?” Well, it is not His job to recreate what He already accomplished. When God gave us the gift of creativity (which is the combination of our ability and brains), his works were accomplished.

What you do with your ability and brain is the basis of your creativity; and that’s your escape from any difficulty you may find yourself in. Putting your creative ability to work does not take the place of prayer. And prayer cannot replace using the creative ability God gave us. Prayer did not create smartphones, the internet, transportation, medicine, and so many other things we enjoy today. It was man’s creative ability that did all that.

The level of your achievement is therefore the measure of your creative ability. How much of a difference you are making now in life is a reflection of how much of your brain and ability you are utilizing.

I used to think prayer is the answer to everything until I saw that when God instructed Moses to build the tabernacle in Exodus 30 and 35, He called on individuals who had creative ability and were skillful in craftsmanship. Why do we think God did not ask the people to declare a fast or call on prayer warriors? It is because there is a place for prayer and there is also a place for creative ability.

We need to desperately explore whatever ability God has given us. Last week I mentioned Lisa Gerrard, an Australian songwriter who composed a song in a language she created. What is it that you have the ability to do but you’ve ignored or looked down on? You may think it doesn’t make sense or will never make sense to others. But God gave you that ability for a reason. You will need to use it create your world; and in doing so you will find that you are making a big difference in the lives of many others too.
