The Impact of Our Actions.

“One might even say that Levi himself, who receives tithes, was tithed through Abraham, for he was still in his father’s loins when Melchizedek met him.”  Hebrews 7:9-10

The Lord exempted the Levites from paying tithes which He mandated the rest of the children of Israel to do. Levites had a special assignment to serve in the temple, and conduct duties the rest of the tribes were not permitted to do. God separated them for His purpose. However, the writer of the book of Hebrew made a summation that the Levites who received tithes once paid tithes through Abraham.

Abraham offered tithes of the proceeds of war to Melchizedek when he conquered the kings and rescued his cousin Lot. That one-time sacrifice from Abraham qualified the children in his loins as partakers and participants in God’s covenants and statutes. According to the scripture, the Levites tithed while still in Abraham’s loins.

If Abraham’s action was credited to the Levites, this serves as proof that there are no limits to how our actions can affect generations to come. The choice we make today does not only change our lives, but it has profound implications on the lives of others. What we do with our covenant relationship with God will open or close doors for our seeds (children). We carry within our loins seeds that will partake and reap the consequences of our actions. The good news is we can be cognizant of the fact that we play a significant role in the lives of generations yet unborn through our actions.

What are the things credited to you from your parents’ actions? Some of the sacrifices made by our parents in their walk with God can serve as our access to unique blessings and create privileges for us. At the same time, if actions and lifestyles of parents’ were/are contrary to the ways and principles of God, the consequence of those actions may create a negative influence on their seeds.

The bottom line here is to understand that we can consciously, through our deliberate actions, create an everlasting memorial for the seeds we carry in our loins. One of the ways to do this is to seek and serve God with our whole heart. Let’s store up blessings for our generations to come.
