Set Your Wages – Part 1

What do you agree that life should pay you? The standard wages? You have the bargaining power to demand what the worth and value for your skill, abilities, and labor in life are. Your wages in life are based on your expectations, and not God. You either set it and demand it or you will get what other people think you are worth. But nobody knows your worth better than you. So don’t let life or people give you just anything; set your wages and demand it.

How many times have you seen or heard of people who know less, do less and contribute less compared to you, but somehow they are being paid better than you? Do you feel cheated? Is life unfair or are we just not demanding what we are worth? Well, we are responsible for setting our wages and not complaining about what others are getting. Life has more than enough to offer each person, depending on if and how we set our wages.

Some of us can easily look back and see where we came from and evaluate how we were raised. What we saw as success growing up was as a result of the demands our parents or guardians set on life. If we witnessed poverty or life was not as splendid as it could have been, it was because of the demands our parents placed on life. And if we don’t want to continue that trend, it is mandatory that we set our wages and place high expectations and demands on life.

In the Bible, the parable of the workers in the vineyard explained how a master hired people at different times of the day to work in his vineyard. After completing the work, those hired first were paid the same amount with those hired last. This prompted a complaint by those hired first, as they felt cheated. Their master responded, “…I am not being unfair…Didn’t you agree to work for the standard wages?” (Matthew 20:13 TPT). So, whenever we feel life is unfair, it is not always true. Majority of the time, we are actually getting just what we bargained for.

LIFE WILL GIVE YOU NOT WHAT YOU DESERVE, BUT WHAT YOU DEMAND!

I have been privileged to achieve one of my childhood dreams of serving in the U. S. Army. However, I did not achieve the knowledge of setting my wages and demanding from life my dues. My expectation was actually very low compared to what I am designed to accomplish in life. So, I’m now learning how to set my sail and create my wealth.

The truth is you may have the best job, live in the best places, and be surrounded by great people; but that still won’t determine what life will give you. You will have to learn to set your wages in life and place a demand on what you really want. Life will not give you the best until you place a demand by setting your wages. It is all based on what you agree to, consciously or unconsciously.

The decision to live a great life is your choice and not anybody else’s. Wishing it will not make anything happen, until you pursue whatever you want. If you have failed at a first or second attempt, be prepared to make all the additional attempts required till you finally succeed in whatever you are pursuing.

The circumstances of life will always fight against you when you are trying to move up, because you are pushing to get out of the regular into a greater realm. As long as you don’t give up, you will break through and see that new realm. This is how you don’t take ‘NO’ for an answer when you face resistance in life.
