“And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!” Luke 1:28
The favor of God is way beyond our wildest imagination or what we can ever think. An excellent example is Mary receiving the great privilege from God to be the mother of Jesus. Such a blessing is very uncommon and unequal to any other thing anyone could ask. What else would Mary possibly consider as more important than being the mother of Jesus? To fit into the prophetic plan of God, which was prophesied many years before her time, is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
We might think Mary is the only one granted this special privilege, but that’s not true. Mary just happened to be the first person to carry the Son of God. Now, we all have the same grace as believers, because we have received Jesus as our eternal life – the very life of God. If Mary could be counted as highly favored for being the mother of Jesus and was part of His mission of bringing salvation to humanity, what do we think we have?
Undoubtedly, we are also highly favored to have received Christ as our Lord and Savior as He lives in us. We have His life; His presence is always with us, and He gave us all the authority that was given to Him in heaven and on earth. What else do we need besides eternal life? It is the highest favor from God that we carry the same life that makes Him God.
However, It is what we do with that life that builds a memorial for us in the kingdom of God. What we do with the favor of eternal life we have is to first understand the magnitude of what God has given to us. We do not want to be like the two disciples described in Luke chapter 20 who were walking with Jesus after His resurrection but did not recognize Him. We need to acknowledge that the highest favor God has honored us with is His life; and this is the same life that makes Him God. What a favor!
